3 Keys to Success to Manage Your Social Media

Social Media can be overwhelming to manage as a busy business owner. But a few key tips will get you on the road to successful results.

First Quality is going to trump Quantity every time.

My goal in assisting my clients is to build their reputation as a thought leader in their field or area of expertise. How can you do this? Be willing to share information and be helpful. Answer questions and provide information. You can also share links to articles that you find interesting that support your ideas, align with your brand, and help to educate consumers.

Allow your personality to shine through. Don’t make everything about the sale. People do not like to be sold to. In the end, sharing helpful content will position you as that thought leader so that when that consumer is looking for your product or service, they think of you. It’s better to post less with really great content than posting haphazardly all day long.

Master one or two networks and do that well before taking on more. In the end, you want to manage your social media…it shouldn’t manage you!

Second: Consistency

If quality content is king, then consistency is queen. You have to commit to a regular schedule in order to achieve results. There is no magic pill. It’s a lot of trial and error to see what’s working, what people are engaging with and fine-tuning your plans to achieve better results. This goes for organic reach and is even more true for paid reach. Create a strategic plan and follow it for optimal results adjusting along the way.

It might make sense for you to reach out for help. If it takes you twice the time, or even worse you just can’t find the time to devote to your social media management then seek help. We’re happy to provide a free consultation to help you evaluate your presence on social media.

And finally, Have FUN!

And for me, that’s being creative. Think outside the box for ideas to reach your audience. Create content that is unique and has thumb-stopping power! Pay attention to the things that make you stop scrolling. Be authentic with the content you share. Show how your products are made or in production. Share helpful checklists, guides, and other relevant information that allows your business to reflect through your social media posts.

In summary, social media can yield amazing results. But it is more and more competitive every day and unless you invest time to create a strategy to reach your customers you won’t get the results that you are after. Make sure you generate a strategic plan by knowing what you want the outcome to be with your social media. Are you looking for brand awareness, comments, shares, traffic to your website, or registrations? Knowing the goal can help set the plan.

Social media works and gets results. It’s a great way to keep your small business in front of customers because your audience is there—especially when you choose your networks wisely, place great content, and remain consistent with your efforts!

And one last thing to consider is that your website is also being ranked constantly for SEO factors such as relevance, trust, and more which can impact search engine results. SEO is also rapidly changing. View a recent webinar that we hosted recently on SEO and what you can do to stay on top of this subject.

Your social presence or level of social activity helps to contribute to your ranking. Social activity is important for customer communication, brand awareness, and as a marketing channel to bring visitors to your website. So, we recommend that you list all of your profiles on your page for visibility and begin to build a following on those networks.
